SONA is the online participant pool management system. Post your study there if you wish to recruit participants from the General Psychology pool online. There are other recruitment options but SONA is the most common and it is usually readily approved by the IRB.
1. To get a researcher account on SONA you must email your PHRP certificate to experimentrak at uco.edu from your UCO email to get added. Your log in information will arrive in your email when you have been added.
2. The link for SONA is https://uco.sona-systems.com/.

5. Go to “Add New Study” under the “Studies” drop down menu to create your study information.
6. Choose the type of study that best fits your project (a standard, in-person, lab study is the default).
7. Enter in your study information according to the instructions below.
8. Your study information should look similar to this. Make your title informative but not flamboyant. Do not try to lure participants with a sexy title, e. g., "Watch Pornography All Day for Credit!". Do NOT give away your hypothesis, e. g., "We are investigating whether watching pornography all day makes people happy". Simply describe the task the participant will be DOING in what context. Studies less than 31 minutes long earn 1/2 credit, studies from 31 minutes long to 60 minutes long earn one credit, 2-hour studies earn 2 credits, etc. Click on Modify Restrictions, select age, and limit participant to those age 18 and above unless your IRB application is approved for minors too. Other important restrictions are vision and audition characteristics (can you adapt your study to blind or deaf participants? What about those who have difficulty using a mouse? If you need a particular participant characteristic, select it here.)
